Cage Warriors returns to Wales on October 14 with a packed card of action, including a deep undercard featuring a host of amateur and professional prospects
Cage Warriors’ return to Wales will feature a packed card of fights as the promotion gets set to deliver a night to remember at the Newport Centre on October 14.
The main event will feature Welsh welterweight favourite Lewis Long, who takes on in-form Bosnian Roberto Soldic looking to propel himself towards a title shot, while rising Welsh prospect Jack ‘Tank’ Shore returns to action against undefeated Italian Federico Mini.
The card also features another top-drawer British welterweight clash, as Craig ‘Thundercat’ White goes head to head with former title challenger Matt Inman.
Fellow Welshman Aaron Khalid and Richard Williams are also set for action against Ross Houston and Cosmin Tutu respectively.
And this week Cage Warriors have added a host of other bouts to the fight card for the event, with Aiden Lee vs Ludovit Klein completing the main card lineup for October 14.
Lee has won his last two contests by first-round submission, producing an inverted heel-hook finish to defeat Fabien Gallinaro at Cage Warriors 80, then following up that impressive finish with a rear-naked choke submission of Kacper Formela at Cage Warriors 83.
He’ll take on a seasoned submission specialist in Klein, who has finished all nine of his wins, with eight of them coming by way of submission. The Slovakian will make his Cage Warriors debut against Lee in Newport looking to impress.
The preliminary card has seen a host of fights added, with Wales’ Richard Williams’ clash with Frenchman Cosmin Tutu the featured preliminary bout at lightweight.
Williams racked up four first-round finishes in his first four bouts as a pro before fellow prospect Joe McColgan halted his momentum at Cage Warriors 83. Now he’s looking to pick up where he left off prior to that contest with another impressive finish against 15-fight veteran Tutu, who’ll be making his Cage Warriors debut.
Swedish amateur star Cornelia Holm is set to make her professional debut when she takes on Portugal’s Diana Felipe in a flyweight contest. Holm amassed a 10-3 record as an amateur, and is riding a nine-fight win streak as she embarks on her pro career against Felipe, who’ll be making the second appearance as a pro.
Also on the pro prelims, there’s a pair of lightweight contests as Mason Jones takes on Shaun Luther and Josh Ellis battles Lawrence Tracey. The pro undercard also features two bantamweight bouts as Kris Edwards faces Bryan Creighton and Jason Jenkins takes on Salih Kulucan.
Throw in an 11-fight amateur prelim card to kick off proceedings and it all adds up to a packed night of mixed martial arts action at the Newport Centre.
