Cape Fight League 8 to Feature Five Title Fights
CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA, DECEMBER 10, 2014 – Cape Fight League (CFL) returns with its eighth event at the Sunningdale Sports Centre on 13 December. The organization’s Lightweight title will be on the line in the main event, as Armand “Wanderlei” Scheepers faces Josh Light in a battle of two of the country’s top prospects. The main event is bolstered by an additional 21 Mixed Martial Arts and K1 kickboxing bouts
Formed in 2011 by Gary Barrett (TAKEDOWN MMA) and Anthony Kettle (PANTHER FIGHTING ARTS AND FITNESS ACADEMY), the league aims to showcase the talents of Cape Town based Fighters against the rest of the country. CFL will give both amateurs and semi-professionals a chance to compete, not only with each other, but also with fighters from across the country and abroad, right here in the Mother City.
Although the sport is seeing a major growth, many talented local fighters still lack the opportunity to test their abilities in the ring. As both coaches and gym owners, Gary and Anthony recognised the need for a platform for these up and coming fighters to show the world what they are made of. The two decided to pool their resources, knowledge, and know how, in order to put on a fighting extravaganza the likes of which Cape Town has not seen before.
By hosting tournaments throughout the year, Cape Fight League hopes to not only afford these fighters much needed fighting experience, but also to grow the sport, by giving Capetonian fight fans a chance to enjoy top class fighting entertainment.
