Former UW Great, All-Pro Safety Tony Parrish to Call the Action at SFL America

MMA show to be broadcast on Facebook and YouTube

TACOMA, Wash. – If Tony Parrish wasn’t calling the action at Saturday’s SFL America: Team Challenge – Seattle vs. Los Angeles, the former NFL All-Pro safety may have had a tough time selecting a side.

Parrish has ties to both cities as he is a native of L.A. and a graduate of the University of Washington, where he was named a “Husky Legend” due to his contributions to the UW football program.

“It’s cool to see both cities matched up,” said Parrish, who played nine seasons in the NFL, leading the league in interceptions in 2003 and being named AP All-Pro that same year. “Washington has produced some of the world’s greatest fighters – Benson Henderson, Demetrious Johnson, Randy Couture, Miesha Tate. The list is huge. Los Angeles has been a hotbed for MMA talent. I’m excited to see how it plays out Saturday. Hopefully, it comes down to that final fight.”

One individual Parrish also listed among the Washington greats was former UFC heavyweight champion Josh Barnett, who will corner Team Los Angeles.

“You know Josh will have his guys ready to go,” said Parrish, who also co-hosts Myx TV’s “Movie So Good,” a show which spotlights cult cinema, including classic kung fu flicks. “Being ringside is going to be incredible.”

Joining Parrish on the broadcast team will be Bob Stelton of 710 ESPN Seattle, who will provide the play-by-play, and professional MMA fighter Harrison Barnes, who will be the show’s analyst.

Tickets are available through the EQC box office and all Ticketmaster outlets. Preliminary bouts start at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.
