RFO Big Guns 14 Preview

If you asked your casual MMA fan in Ohio to describe Revelation Fight Organization, two things would come to mind: a packed venue and exciting fights. Both of those things can be expected at RFO Big Guns 14 which takes place Saturday Oct. 18 at the Richland County Fairgrounds in Mansfield, Ohio.  RFO, one of Ohio’s longest running promotions, has put together yet another stacked fight card featuring four professional bouts and a number of additional amateur fights.

The main event of the evening will feature a fight that has already begun online. “Karate” Mike Williams (1-2) and Marc “Ring Shark” Salser do not like each other and they both will use the cage to settle the score. Salser, a highly successful boxer, is making his professional MMA debut. Williams is a veteran of the RFO cage and looks to rebound from a recent first round loss in another promotion. The two have used social media to talk trash over the past couple of months which will most likely lead to a very exciting finale for the fight card.

The co-main event features the professional debut of fan favorite Josh Longood. Longood racked up an 8-1 amateur career that was also decorated with a handful of titles. His opponent is Lloyd Thornton (2-1) who is stepping in for Jordan Gonzales. Thornton is coming off his first professional loss but will definitely be a big challenge for Longood.

It is sure to be a technical fight when Raymond Yanez (3-4) and Charlie Gathers (5-6) step into the cage. Yanez looks to rebound from a loss at Big Guns 13 when he takes on the exciting Pennsylvanian, Charlie Gathers.

The fight kicking off the professional portion of the card puts Cody Gabelman (1-0) against Darnell Pettis (0-0, 1 NC). Gabelman, who put together an impressive amateur career, is coming off a pro debut win and looks to keep the momentum on his side. This is also Pettis’s second pro fight. His first was clouded in controversy as an illegal knee led to a No Contest ruling. This is a great matchup that will set the tone early for the rest of the professional card.

In the amateur main event the bantamweight belt will be on the line as Aaron Neighbors (9-6) takes on Jeff Mack (10-2).
