caporal-ibjjfOne of the eight fighters in the China Trials Lightweight Matches, Atos Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt Rodrigo Caporal, participated in the IBJJF Seoul International Open in South Korea over the weekend of 22 October. He swept the event with four golds. In gi, he defeated Paulo Schon (Alliance) and Jung Ho-Won (John Frankl JJ). In no gi he bested Paulo Schon twice more.

Caporal has been a threat to his division in every grappling contest across Asia since moving to Hong Kong, where he runs his own gym, Espada. The Atos black belt is a No Gi World champion, Brazilian National Champion, and European champion. In recent months, Caporal has expanded his BJJ team into Korea by adding 26 gyms under his name. The massive team won the majority of awards at the Seoul Open, and looks to be a force in future international competition under the dominant Caporal.

Caporal will now resume his MMA career in ROAD FC, and will return to the cage in China where he is undefeated in nine fights. His greatest accomplishment was winning the RUFF Lightweight $1 million RMB Championship with wins over Zhang Lipeng and Wu Haotian. Now he has his sights on getting though the China Trials and on to the ROAD FC $1 Million Lightweight Tournament in 2017.

Caporal (13-5, Espada MMA) will face Mongolia's Amartuvshin Khuukhenkhuu (4-3, Shiren Beelii) in the China Trials. Khuukhenkhuu trained in Sambo since the age of 15, and added Judo to his resume before he transitioned to MMA in China's Legend FC and RUFF. He is an aggressive fighter who looks for every opportunity to finish; Khuukhenkhuu knocked out Wu Haotian and Alexy Makhno, and went a grueling three rounds with Kuat Khamitov. Most recently, Khuukhenkhuu was in the Ganryujima hybrid combat event where he fought to a decision loss in the quarterfinals.

The four winners of the China Trials will be seeded in the $1 Million Lightweight Tournament which will begin in 2017.
