Ultimate Reno Combat 48 Results

Northern Nevada's #1 cage fighting event returns as "Ultimate Reno Combat 48" premiers live on September 20, outside at the Sands Regency in Reno, Nevada. Voted the #1 Amateur MMA Event in the Nation, URC always showcases the top up and coming fighters from around Nevada and California. URC 48 will be no different as the very best of the best in the amateur ranks will compete in the cage where Blood Happens on this 10-bout card featuring 2 title fights! If you can't be there live in Reno, experience the thrill of every punch, kick, takedown and submission via the comfort of your home. Stream it live on the GFL Combat Sports Network.

In the main event, for the URC Flyweight Championship, Brando Amaro (4-0) out of Reno Academy of Combat will take on James Mulder (1-1) from Weapons Factory. The undefeated Amaro won the title back in 2013 via TKO and looks to defend the title for the first time. Amaro has shown an ability to steam roll his past opponents because of his nonstop pressure and is one of the brightest young talents in the 125 lb division. Amaro packs a punch and has solid wrestling and mixes up his attacks well. Mulder is getting a huge break in his career, fighting for a title with only one fight to his credit. Mulder will have to match the intensity of Amaro early in the fight and to do that, he will need to rely on finding a safe distance to strike from or land his takedowns. Mulder has a strong top game on the ground and he will need to use that in this fight.

In the co-main event, for the URC Welterweight Title, Antoine Gibson (4-2) from Asylum Fight Team fights Samuel Nolasco (5-3) from Team Nolasco. Gibson fought earlier in his career as a middleweight so he should bring a size and strength advantage into the cage. Look for Gibson to press the action in the early going to utilize that advantage. Nolasco has made a name for himself on the West Coast as a gritty fighter who has a chin made out of steel. Nolasco earned the title shot after a victory in May at URC 46. Look for Nolasco to make this a brawl.

EJ Schmehl (4-3) battles Eric Helm (2-0) in a showdown of rising bantamweights. Schmehl is tall for the division standing 6' and will look to use his length to land strikes from the outside while not taking any damage in return. Helm is undefeated in his young career and wants to keep that streak going against Schmehl. Look for Helm to try and close the distance and get the fight to the mat, where the size advantage of Schmehl will be negated.

Watch the champions of tomorrow compete today! Don't miss this loaded event with loaded mixed martial arts fight as Northern Nevada's "Ultimate Reno Combat 48" comes to you live on GFL.tv on September 20.
