XCC Featured Fighter: Leonardo DaSilva

Brazilian born amateur fighter Leonardo DaSilva is one of experienced fighters out of American Top Team in Allentown on the XCC 24 fight card.   Leo made his mixed martial arts debut three years ago this week and since has accumulated eight fights under his belt.   A well balanced fighter under direction of UFC Veteran Carmelo Marrero, Leo will fighting close to home at the Sands Casino in Bethlehem on April 30th for his ninth MMA fight.

Just weeks before XCC 24 at the Sands Casino we talked with Leo regarding his life as a mixed martial artist for the fans to get some insight on this veteran fighter.
XCC:  When do you move to the US from Brazil and do you ever go home to visit?
Leonardo: I moved to the US from Brazil in 2004. I haven't been able to go back to Brazil since then but i hope to visit with my wife next year.

XCC:  Who has been your biggest inspiration since becoming a mixed martial artist?
Leonardo:  As a fan I always admired legendary fighters like the Gracies, the Nogueira brothers, and all of the old school Brazilian fighters. When I started training, I really looked up to Carmelo Marrero.  He became inspirational to me as a coach and also as a good friend.

XCC: What is your favorite and least favorite part of being a fighter?
Leonardo: My favorite part is the fight and actually being locked in the cage.  My least favorite part is making weight and not being able to eat the things I like.

XCC:  As a newlywed, what does your wife feel about your involvement in MMA?
Leonardo:  My wife understands what I do and she completely supports me as a fighter.  I know she gets nervous seeing me in the cage, but she is always there to take care of me and is behind me 100%.

XCC:  What are your plans as a fighter for the next year?
Leonardo:  My plan was to make my pro debut this year.  Unfortunately, I broke my hand last year in an MMA fight and then again in a kickboxing fight which put my plans on hold.  We will see what is in store after this fight.

XCC:  Anything else you would like your friends, family and fans to know about you?
Leonardo: I love this sport and I will keep fighting. Every time I step into the cage I just want to bring my best so everybody can enjoy a good fight.

On April 30th at XCC 24 at the Sands Casino Bethlehem Leonardo will be fighting alongside his fellow American Top Team training partners Kris Gratalo, Ronnie Lavigne, Derick Wisser and Josh Henninger.   XCC is pleased to be bringing the ATT fighters along with numerous other fan favorites to the Lehigh Valley in this unprecedented MMA event.  For tickets please contact any of the XCC fighters or respond to this email for further information.
