Xiaomi ROAD FC 031 update: "Ryo" Choi Young will face Judoka Yoon Dong-Sik in a Middleweight match
Xiaomi ROAD FC 031 sets “Ryo” Choi Young's homecoming opponent as Yoon Dong-Sik
12 April, 2016 - ROAD Fighting Championship is excited to announce that “Ryo” Choi Young will face “Armbar King” Yoon Dong-Sik on 14 May, 2016 at ROAD FC 031 in Seoul, South Korea.
Choi Young (18-10-3, Shinbukan/Land's End) will return to fight in Korea for the first time in ten years. Choi is one of Korea's first generation of Mixed Martial Artists with a long competitive history. From his 2004 victory over “Stun Gun” Kim Dong-Hyun in Spirit MC, Choi made his way through K-1's HERO'S then became a staple of DEEP, fighting the top in the middleweight division such as Lim Jae-Seok, Ryuta Sakurai, Kazuhiro Nakamura, Tatsuya Mizuno, and finally Yoshiyuki Nakanishi, against whom he avenged a loss to walk away with the DEEP Middleweight Championship.
Yoon Dong-Sik (9-8, Neepiel C&H) was an Olympic-calibre Judoka who made his professional MMA debut in PRIDE in 2005. He fought the world's best Middle-, Light Heavy- and Heavyweights such as Sakuraba, Melvin Manhoef, Rampage Jackson, and Murilo Bustamante to become a Korean MMA legend. Yoon launched the second wave of his career in ROAD FC, first facing former ROAD FC Middleweight Champion Riki Fukuda, then earning back to back victories over Amilcar Alves and Daiju Takase.
This Middleweight match will be two of the most respected and admired Korean middleweights in a clash of two very distinct styles. Will “Ryo” strike first and get the KO, or will Yoon once again pull of the “Dongbar”? Legends collide!
