New York City, October 9, 2017 Rolles Gracie here. I wanted to tell you about New York City’s newest BJJ promotion, KASAI, which is hosting its first day of amateur tournaments – The Elite Grappling Championships – on Saturday, October 21. The EGCs will take place at Baruch College (24th and Lexington Ave.), just a handful of blocks away from Wall Street. It’s the perfect place to showcase our family’s belief that “health is the best kind of wealth.” Male and female competitors of all ages, weights and skill levels are welcome to register for the EGCs, which contest under IBJJF rules in gi attire. We also welcome any family or friends who want to come out and lend their support. I’m most excited about our no-gi 155lb qualifying tournament, where the winner will earn a place in KASAI’s World Lightweight Championship tournament at our upcoming professional event KASAI Pro, scheduled December 9 in Brooklyn, New York. One talented amateur grappler’s pro debut could end with gold!
We have some great partners joining us on the day, including our friends at AZAD WATCH, who will award $1,000 wristwatches to select winners at the EGCs. It’s the least we can do for those who make the time to join us. It’s also a reminder to all of us tempted to skip training day that “lost time is never found again” (Benjamin Franklin). Like learning from our Sensei, or rolling with fellow students, we will always keep a two-way dialogue open. So I’d like to know, what’s preventing you from signing up? How can we make our Jiu-Jitsu tournaments smoother and more enjoyable for you? Please let me know by replying to this e-mail, reaching out on Instagram, or stopping by our academies (Renzo’s in Manhattan, or my new academy in Old Bridge, NJ). I’ll be at the event, alongside some of the greatest guys and gals in the Northeast BJJ community, so stop by and say hello! If you’re unable to make it in-person, keep an eye out for our live stream on our Facebook page - www.facebook.com/
