Gavronski, Awimbono Main Event Battle at the Boat 108

10-round Super Middleweight Bout Headlines Event at Emerald Queen Casino

battle-at-the-boat-108-posterTACOMA, Wash. – Mike Gavronski rebounded from a rare defeat by scoring an impressive victory his last time out. The super middleweight will now look to make it consecutive victories when he faces Thomas Awimbono in the main event of Battle at the Boat 108 at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Wash. on Nov. 19.

Gavronski came back from a 14-month layoff to knockout previously undefeated Jake Carr, a former Australian super middleweight champion, on Sept. 10 to improve his career mark to 21-2-1 with 14 KOs. It was the Tacoma residents first time back in the ring since he lost to Dashon Johnson in 2011 in a bout for the vacant WBA-NABA United States super middleweight championship.

“I don’t think I have seen Mike look any better than he did in his last fight,” promoter Brian Halquist said. “That loss to Johnson rejuvenated him. He became much more focused with his training. He was quicker and stronger than ever before when he fought Carr. Awimbono will be a great test for him.”

Awimbono (25-4-1, 21 KOs) brings an 18-fight winning streak into the 10-round affair, winning 17 of those bouts by knockout. His last defeat came when he went the distance with undefeated Thomas Oosthuizen, who is currently ranked among the world’s top 10-ranked light heavyweights, almost seven years ago.

Tickets are available through the EQC box office and all Ticketmaster Outlets. Preliminary bouts start at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Battle at the Boat 108 will feature the all new VIP experience with 3rd Row Seats being discounted to $75 per ticket. All fans seated in in the VIP section (rows 1-3) will have an exclusive access point and a dedicated server to help create a true VIP experience.

The six-bout card will also feature a semi-main at 140 pounds between Yakima’s Andres Reyes (5-1-1) and Marco Cardenas (5-5-1), a 149-pound contest between Tacoma’s Andre Keys (2-1) and Nate Serrano (4-4-2), a 153-pound bout between Zach Cooper (4-2-2) and Tony Neal (4-6) and undefeated Giovani Mioletti (2-0) taking on fellow 135-pounder Chance Gabriel.
