Super Fight League 40 Fight Recap:
Super Fight League 40 was action packed from start to finish, having no fights go to a judges decision. Fans around the world will remember Super Fight League as one of the up and coming organizations taking over the MMA Circuit. In this weeks fight breakdown, we go in depth on the Semi-Main event between Gurdarshan Gary Mangal and Hector Lopez then for the Main event of the night, Drew Brokenshire and Jason Gray.
In the Semi-Main event, British Columbia's own Gurdarshan Gary Mangal defeated Yakima native Hector Lopez by way of choke (RNC). It was a one sided fight from the get go, where Mangal scored a takedown in the first 20 seconds of the fight. Mangal utilized this position staying on top and laying down ground and pound for the rest of the fight. From the top position, Mangal then got Lopez' back as he tried standing back up, giving Mangal the perfect opportunity to sink in the Rear-Naked Choke which Mangal capitalized on, getting the win by Rear-Naked Choke at 3:00 of Round 1.
In the Main event, Local rising star Drew Brokenshire faced former WA State champion wrestler Jason Gray. Brokenshire won from a come from behind TKO victory in the third round, but this "W" certainly wasn't easy for him to earn. Going into this fight, most knew that this match was a wrestler vs. striker kind of fight, which is exactly what happened. For most of this fight, Jason Gray decided where the fight would go by his technically precise wrestling. The first 2 rounds were dominated by Gray's ability to score a takedown at will, having Brokenshire working off his back going for submission attempts. Brokenshire was able to almost sink in a guillotine choke from getting taken down, but after a couple seconds of trying to lock both arms he eventually let go.  The third and final round was where it all turned around. Brokenshire knew he needed to finish this fight, so he stayed ready for the takedown and started kneeing Gray as he would shoot in. Brokenshire was able to land 2 knees but was taken down both times from giving Gray his leg. Brokenshire endured the takedowns and bottom position, and when Gray dove in for another takedown, Brokenshire executed a perfect knee that stunned Gray and gave Drew Brokenshire the opportunity to follow up with strikes and finish the fight at 2:50 of the third round. Huge appreciation for both fighters putting on an amazing performance. This personally was the greatest comeback I have ever seen live! #SupportLocalMMA
