Hello MMA World, This is Tampa Bay
TAMPA, FL- Tampa, FL is home to many great MMA promotions. There have been many that have come and gone over the years, but a handful of successful ones still remain. The MMA scene throughout the Tampa Bay area has grown substantially and therefore has resulted in a great place for young fighters to set a foundation for a successful career. The boom in Florida MMA has also seen a rise in schools offering a great multitude of martial arts training.
Amateur MMA promotions such as World Class Fight League, Florida Championship Fighting, Arena Fighting Championship, Pahlavan Promotions, and Rival Fight League (Lakeland) have all found great success in the area. Others that are beginning to start up with the hopes for this success like Gracie Tampa Fight Night and Rumble and Thunder are helping in this rise of amateur platforms for fighters to begin their careers. Even promotions such as Combat Night and Breakthrough MMA, which are based out of Orlando and Daytona respectively, have been a big part of the Tampa MMA explosion.
The professional MMA promotions on the other hand have been much less frequent. The one staple of professional MMA in the Tampa Bay area has been the long running Real Fighting Championship owned by Joe Valdez. The RFC is Florida’s longest running MMA promotion and has been the stage for the start of many great fighters’ careers.
Tampa has also seen the occasional visit from some of the largest promotions in MMA. Bellator MMA has made Tampa a date on its schedule a couple of times. The XFC, founded in Tampa, has returned here many times along the way. World Series of Fighting has visited Florida three times in its young tenure, but has yet to visit Tampa. That is all about to change.
