WORLD SERIES OF FIGHTING - GLOBAL CHAMPIONSHIP

FIRST AMERICAN-BASED MMA ORGANIZATION TO VENTURE INTO INDIA

LAS VEGAS, NV  March 31, 2016  World Series of Fighting – Global Championship (WSOF-GC) is the first American-based MMA organization to venture into the fastest growing major economy in the world, India.

WSOF Global – India will be launched as part of an agreement with Yoddha Fighting Championship, who will continue to focus nurturing homegrown talent and providing them with a platform to gain experience for the professional ranks, as well as launch established professional fighters to larger organizations across the globe. Two of India’s brightest talents, Yadwinder Singh (5-0) and Chaitanya Gavali (5-2), each competed for WSOF Global at their inaugural event in China in November 2015.

President of Yoddha Fighting Champiobship, Jitendra Khare, said "We believe that India has a huge potential in terms of MMA prospects, but needs exposure and work at the grass-root level to produce world class MMA athletes. Yoddha FC has been working for the last 18 months to provide a platform for amateur fighters to not only develop and showcase their talent but also to gain experience that would help them make the transition to professional level. A global organization like WSOF-GC, by partnering up with YFC, has shown interest in developing MMA in India from the ground up. This is a huge boost for the entire MMA scene in India.  Indian MMA fighters will now have a clearer career path of progression to a world class promotion."

“We first had the pleasure of working with Jitendra at our November event,” states Jason Lilly, WSOF-GC Vice President of Operations. “He was very passionate about the education and growth of MMA in India and was very excited to work with our promotion. It’s an honor for us to affiliate with someone who truly understands the complexities of the sport as it continues to be the fastest growing sport in their country.”

“Last year, we launched in China, the largest population in the world. 2016 is the next evolution as we are now working in India, the second largest,” said WSOF-GC President, Shawn Wright. “With WSOF Global events and promotions now on four continents, we can continue to showcase events from all over the world. We will continue to grow this idea of bringing MMA together under one platform by providing fight fans from around the world a place that they can watch these great events by accessing our Fight Library at wsofgc.com.”

Yoddha Fighting Championship is currently finishing up a 16-man elimination tournament in each of several weight classes. The Semi Finals are scheduled for May in Bhubaneswar with the Finals set for Mumbai in June.

World Series of Fighting Global’s ultimate mission is to bring together the best athletes from countries and organizations across the world to compete for a true, globally-recognized world champion.
